Ochre Restaurant has been involved in catering and or event management at these venues over the last 14 years and has a good working relationship with the management or venue owners. Options are only limited by imagination and a surprising range of budgets can be catered to. It doesn’t stop there; we have used many other venues that suit smaller groups such as beach fronts, private homes, charter boats, rainforest sites, outback creeks, dams and private properties. Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal

The Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal is a very unique venue on the waterfront in Cairns, painfully restored; the process has transformed the heritage listed wharf shed, over 100 years old, into a modern facility designed with operational practicality in mind, yet retaining the history of the yesteryear.

The Cairns Cruise Terminal is located only minutes walk from the major city hotels and Cairns Convention Centre. Tanks Art Centre/ Cairns Botanical Gardens

Historic WW2 Oil Bunkers located in well-maintained grounds with new amenities, these 3 ‘tanks’ all suit differing groups and themes. Best suited to the cooler months for dinners up to 300 pax or perfect for roaming stand up cocktail functions up to 1000 pax. Enjoy this space for the uniqueness it naturally portrays, teamed with stalls serving cuisine from around the world – excellent conference welcome venue to introduce guest into another side of Cairns.

Ellis Beach Yacht Club

30 minutes from Cairns; Palm fringed with grass running down to the beach.

Coconut cocktails to start will create a fantastic tropical theme. This can be carried through the menu with use of plenty of local seafood and tropical fruits.

Theming could include Island hut bar, and each table under individual tents with fronds and bamboo coverings.– themed table and chairs . Lighting of the waterfront is achievable, sounds of the ocean, starry night! etc.

The entertainment could be kept formal or we could mix into Pacific Islander tunes.

Perched on the Coral Sea, overlooking the mountains of the Daintree this historic wharf makes a perfect venue with indoor and outdoor options. Close to rex smeal park and St Mary’s Chapel it make an ideal wedding reception venue. Affordable venue hire and a variety of theme and lighting options to enhance the wharf building are available.

A J Hackett Bungy

Queensland’s most unique venue for special events, parties and private functions.

Rex Smeal Park – Port Douglas

Possibly the best outlook in north Queensland this large park offers an
ideal wedding and event venue.

Sunset views across the bay to mountain ranges beyond, the grass area bordered by coconut palms. Conveniently located within walking distance of St Mary Chapel and central Pt Douglas it makes transfers easy.

With power and facilities this quiet park suits groups from 20 to 2000.

Botanic Gardens & Centenary Lakes

Opposite the Cairns Botanic Gardens and 5 minutes from the CBD, the Centenary Lakes area is perfect for event catering. Two areas are available for groups; the Northern end is a large grassy area accessed by Collins Avenue and the less open Southern end on Greenslopes Street. Various lighting techniques could be applied to create an elegant evening atmosphere with an emphasis on the gardens, floral table arrangements, candelabras and lighting of the lake. Pre-dusk arrival with canapés and champagne and an evening jungle boardwalk would set the mood.

Cannon Park Race Track

10 mins. From Cairns CBD: Large grassed areas with tall paperbark trees surround the racetrack make for accessible function space, plus a large roofed area for affordable venue space, all suitable for large conference dinners or events. Good power supply and amenities available.

Freshwater Connection – Railway Station

Historic Railway Station located 15mins from Cairns on the Kuranda Line. This venue can be incorporated in realistic 1930’s and 40’s themes. Travel by train from Cairns Central and be greeted on arrival with drinks and canapé before being seated to a sumptuous dinner. Full services including on site kitchen make for an affordable event cost.

Cairns Showground Pavilion – Fred Moule Pavillion

Cairns largest indoor all weather venue. This space is versatile and can suit groups of 300 to 1400, with loads of power, amenities and kitchen facilities; this is a great hall for large conference dinners. Only 5 minutes from Cairns, transfers can be completed quickly for large groups. Outside there are large reception/welcome areas; this venue is an affordable and readily available off site choice. Themeing is easy with extensive rigging points, concrete floor and large doorways for vehicle access.
